Favorite Hunts
2009 was a slow year for me, partially by design (I've got two toddlers at home so didn't want to leave my wife outnumbered too long), partially because of bad luck in the draws.
I picked up a small mulie in Colorado, but got blanked on Colorado elk and Nebraska deer. In December, I ended my season with a heart-breaking muzzleloader mulie hunt in Kansas where I got within 20 yards of a B&C buck but came home empty-handed. All in all, it was not the best season I've ever had.
So, I'll spend my time reflecting on better days and greener pastures:

Alaska Dall Sheep and GrizzlyIt was in 2008 that I finally made the Dall Sheep and Grizzly hunt I had booked since 2005. The North Slope of the Brooks Range, up above the Arctic Circle, offered lots of sheep and some very interesting grizzly hunting. Trips like that definitely offer life-long memories. Read More .... |

New Mexico Barbary SheepBack in February of 2007, I made the trip down to Roswell, New Mexico for a free-range barbary sheep hunt (Barbary sheep are also known as Aoudad over in their Texas range). I went in to that hunt thinking of it as a tune-up for my Dall Sheep hunt, but quickly found that hunting big barbary sheep rams in New Mexico is a tremendous destination in and of itself. Wyoming AntelopeHunting antelope in Wyoming is always fun. Not as epic or unique as certain other hunts, but always engaging hunting for a great animal. My 2008 hunt was a typical good outing.
