Mulie Rut in Full Swing in Colorado
November 23, 2010.
Based on what I typically see at my home in the foothills west of Denver, the deer rut in Colorado peaks right around Thanksgiving.
Things seem to be pretty much on track this year.
Driving in to my office on Monday morning, November 22, I saw a mature 4x4 mounting a doe. Immediately after which I almost hit a 3x3 with my truck as he crossed the road, trying to get in on the action.
I didn't have my camera with me on Monday, but here's a picture from 2008, taken Thanksgiving day in my back yard:
