Upcoming Raffles For Colorado Sheep, Goat, and Antelope

March 15, 2010.

Every year, the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society sponsors a raffle for a Colorado Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep tag and a Colorado Rocky Mountain Goat tag.

2009 RAFFLE WINNER Mike Duplan

Colorado has excellent trophy quality and great numbers for both species, as well as several great outfitters to help you find them.

Additionally, they will be offering a raffle this year for a Colorado statewide antelope tag. Only 500 tickets will be available for the antelope license.

Rules for the raffle and the winning licenses are attractive:

  • Can be used during any open season or during all open seasons in an open area
  • Is valid in any hunting area in Colorado provided the season is open and you hunt by the method specified for that specific area (i.e., archery/rifle)
  • Tickets are $25 each and you may purchase a maximum of 25 tickets
  • EXTENDED SEASON DATES for auction and raffle hunters ONLY all units are now open until December 31, 2009

In 2009, 1,872 sheep tickets, 531 goat tickets, and 235 antelope tickets were sold. This is down by about a third from previous years -- no doubt a sign of the weak economy. Sales are likely to be down this year too. If you're ever considered entering a raffle, this is the year to do it.

Buying tickets in 2010 will let you help out a good cause and avoid having to accumulate years of preference points that would otherwise be required to have a shot at tags like this.

The drawings will be held April 24th in Denver at the 35th annual RMBS banquet at the Denver Merchandise Mart.

To order tickets and for more information on these and other raffles, see the website of the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society.

Good luck and thanks for supporting a good cause ....
