Good News For Colorado Turkey Hunters

November 29, 2010.

On November 10, the Colorado Wildlife Commission voted to allow over-the-counter turkey hunting licenses on private land for all but three management units (91, 92 and 96) east of Interstate 25.  The change goes into effect in 2011.

This means less competition for limited-draw turkey licenses in eastern Colorado. For example, when I go to apply for a Unit 103 turkey license next year so that I can hunt on public land, I'll no longer be competing with area locals who would have been applying for that same license in order to hunt their private land.
