Pronghorn Are Disappearing From West Texas

November 10, 2010.

Texas isn't one of the better known states for antelope hunting, but it has been producing some great hunting in recent years.

This appears to be changing, as the population has dropped from 17,000 to less than 5,000.

Biologists have a few theories on what's going on, but are still trying to conclusively understand the problem.

"We've got so many questions and so few answers," said Louis Harveson, director of the Borderlands Research Institute for Natural Resource Management at Sul Ross State University, which has teamed up with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to figure out what's causing the drop.
