Why Does This Never Happen When I'm Bear Hunting?

I love living in the foothills above Denver for a whole variety of reasons. One of the great perks is seeing so much wildlife.
It does occur to me, however, that I seem to have much better luck spotting wildlife in my yard than I often do while hunting.
This black bear from the Saturday of Labor Day weekend is a prime example. She was cruising during broad daylight, right at noon, and seemed particuarly interested in the acorns in the scrub oak patch in my meadow.
