Why Does This Never Happen When I'm Elk Hunting?

A couple weeks ago, while my kids and I were grilling on our back deck, a pair of bull elk circled all the way around our back yard.

This drove our dog wild, and the elk seemed to enjoy taunting him through the fence.

I'd bet good money that I don't see elk like this in a week or so when I'm actually hunting.
