By Species
I learned to hunt back when I was living in southern Minnesota. There was great whitetail hunting down on my buddy's farm in the southeastern part of the state, and the potential for bears further north. While these were great opportunities, it didn't take long until I was drawn to the wonderful array of big game species out west.
Many species, including elk, mule deer, whitetails, and antelope, can be hunted most every year. Other species are extraordinarily prestigious, and the demand for tags far outstrips the supply. By playing the bonus point systems of the various western states, however, a dedicated hunter can draw remarkable tags.
By applying diligently for tags over the years, and planning a big outfitted hunt about every other year, I've been able to hunt 13 different big games species, and have been fortunate enough to bag 10 species.
