Hunter Forced To Kill Charging Grizzly
October 30, 2007.
As Hunt The West subscribers know, 2007 has been an eventful year for encounters between hunters and grizzlies in the northern Rockies.
In the most recent event, a 54-year-old elk hunter was forced to kill a charging grizzly in Montana last week. The old sow charged him after he bumped in to her near the gut pile of an elk. The hunter dropped her with a single, lucky, one-handed shot from his 30-06 after he stumbled while backing away from her.
The Great Falls Tribune had excellent coverage, including a thoughtful interview with the hunter.
