Group of Poachers Busted in Arizona
December 17, 2007.
An extensive multi-agency undercover operation led by Arizona Game and Fish Department law enforcement officers has resulted in 16 suspects being charged with more than 60 wildlife violations.
Another suspect is facing 6 felony charges related to the killing of stray horses on US Forest Service lands near Show Low. It is speculated that the horses had been shot to be used as bait for poaching bears.
The charges relate to the the unlawful take of 9 bears, 2 elk, 4 mule deer, and 1 coues deer.
To date, 11 individuals have been convicted of 18 offenses.
