Field Report: Colorado Geese

January 14, 2008.

Hunt The West pro-staffer Paul Vanderspek and I hunted geese a couple weeks ago and did OK. Not being able to stand the thought of ending the season on a high note, I went back out again on Saturday, January 12.

I hunted near the town of Wiggins, CO along the I-76 corridor. Conditions were sunny with temperatures in the 20s.

Although there were reports of some big flocks just a few days earlier, I saw a grand total of zero geese.

Another hunter who set up a few miles from me saw a grand total of 2 geese.

Although I suppose some more birds may move in, I'll try to take a hint and give up on geese for the year.
