Field Report: Colorado Elk Still Carrying Horns

April 18, 2008.

I drove by a pair of two-year-old bulls on my way in to work yesterday morning.

Both were still carrying their spikes, clearly highlighted by the backdrop of 6 inches of fresh spring snow.

This was on Colorado's Front Range, about 7000 feet elevation.
