More on The Slow Start to Colorado Rifle Seasons
October 23, 2008.
As we pass the half-way point of Colorado's 2nd Rifle Season for deer and elk, more reports are coming in that indicate that the harvest has been slow. Correspondents continue to blame mild weather for the modest success hunters have been having.
An article from the Steamboat Springs area of northern Colorado notes:
“It’s not that there’s no animals, it’s not that there’s no hunters. The animals are simply up high.... And then you throw the economy in, and that’s the other wild card.”
An article from the Leadville area reports:
"Animals are scattered all over, all the way above timberline.... There may not be much food up there, but no hunters, either."
