Colorado 4th Rifle Season Plagued By Warm Weather
November 20, 2007.
Colorado's unseasonably warm and dry fall has continued, leading to tough hunting during the 4th (and final) rifle season.
The 4th season ran from November 14 and through November 18. With temperatures approaching 70 degrees, even at high elevation, and little snow, many hunters had a tough time finding elk.
The mule deer are in the rut, but hunters who often hunt the 4th season reported frustration with the quality of bucks they were seeing this year.
The tough 4th season follows on the heels of a similarly tough 3rd season. While the 2nd season was also largely warm and dry, it appears to have had the best showing during the 2007 Combined Rifle Seasons.
There's always next year...
