Montana Extends Some Elk Hunts Due to Warm Weather

November 21, 2007.

As Hunt The West subscribers know, Colorado rifle seasons were impacted quite a bit by warm, dry, unseasonable weather.

Montana has also felt these impacts, and Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks has moved to extend elk seasons in areas where harvest objectives have not been met.

The primary reason cited for the move was the warm weather and lack of snow that contributed to reduced harvests.

For details, see the press release from Montana FWP. Read carefully, as the onus is on the hunter to make sure they understand the rules around the extensions.
