Hunting and the Economy: Colorado Applications Down Only 2%

The Post Independent out of Glenwood Springs, CO ran a detailed article on this year's trends in applications for Colorado hunting licenses.

Key points:

  • Overall, applications are down less than 2 percent from 2008
  • Nonresident applications were down 9 percent, while resident applications actually rose 2 percent.
  • The biggest decline was in the nonresident deer applications, which were down 11 percent from 2008.
  • Totals for over-the-counter tags remain to be seen. In 2008, Colorado sold approximately 100,000 over-the-counter tags.
